OUR ARTISTS
Welcome to Oceanfire House of Art's community of talented artists. Each of our artists brings a unique perspective and style to their work, contributing to the vibrant tapestry of art in our gallery.
Rebecca Mayrhofer is a writer, photographer, and visionary founder of Oceanfire House of Art, a creative collective born from a lifelong passion for storytelling and the arts. From a young age, Rebecca was drawn to the magic of fantasy and the quiet power of dreams—often turning those dreams into stories that became a personal escape and a
world of her own making. She began sharing her written work and visual art through a personal blog, using words and imagery to explore emotion, imagination, and the beauty of the everyday.
In the early 2000s, her artistic expression expanded into photography when she received her first digital camera. Rebecca quickly fell in love with capturing the natural world— zooming in on the quiet details of moss, petals, and textures often overlooked. Each photo, for her, is more than just an image—it’s a reflection of who she is in that moment and a part of her evolving journey.
As she navigated the intersection of creativity and technology, Rebecca became passionate about helping artists protect their voice and vision. She saw how often artists had to sacrifice ownership in order to be seen, and that realization sparked the early vision for Oceanfire—a space where artists could thrive creatively and financially without compromise. Though the idea was first conceived in 2012, it wasn’t until a
pivotal moment in 2024, during a period of personal transformation, that the dream
reignited.
By 2025, empowered by business training and a partnership with BLK Parade
Productions, Rebecca officially launched Oceanfire House of Art. Today, the platform stands as a beacon for artists looking to share, connect, and grow within a community built on mutual respect, support, and authentic creative freedom.
Through Oceanfire, Rebecca continues to merge her love for story, nature, and empowerment—proving that dreams, like art, can evolve and thrive with time.
Like many true explorers, his spirit couldn’t be contained by a single landscape. The mountains of British Columbia — mysterious, rugged, and untamed — called to him with their fog-draped silence and alpine majesty. In their vastness, he found a second home: a place of both challenge and renewal. Whether hiking through towering forests, tracing the line of a river through a canyon, or chasing the last light atop a summit, Jon embraced the mountain world with a kind of grateful awe.
His photographs from BC speak in a different register — more shadow, more stillness, more mystery — yet always with the same attentive eye and open heart.
What sets Jon apart is not only his talent behind the lens, but his ability to be there — truly present in the moment, humble before nature’s moods. He knows that the best photos come when you wait. When you rise before dawn, or linger until twilight. When you hike the extra mile, or sit quietly by the water’s edge. His work is shaped by patience, persistence, and a profound respect for wild places. He captures the earth not as a backdrop, but as a living story — always turning, always unfolding, always just around the bend.
This collection brings together images from both of Jon’s worlds — the familiar comfort of Saskatchewan and the exhilarating unknown of British Columbia — weaving a narrative of discovery, homecoming, and heartfelt observation. It’s a book for those who love the land, who feel most themselves with a backpack slung over their shoulder and a camera in hand, and for anyone who’s ever wondered what lies just out of sight, around the next curve in the road.
In Jon Giesbrecht’s world, every bend holds promise. This book is an invitation to walk beside him — to pause, to breathe, and to see. In the vast expanse of the prairie sky, where the horizon stretches endlessly, one man found his passion – photographer Mike Iverson. Through his lens, he captured the ever-changing drama of the skies, from the fiery hues of sunrise to the serene pastels of sunset. His journey began unexpectedly, as a contractor navigating the open plains of the Midwest. Yet, amidst the monotony of construction sites, Iverson discovered the beauty that unfolded above.
Our Skies from My Eyes chronicles Iverson's extraordinary odyssey through the heavens. With an artist's eye and a lover's heart, he transformed mundane clouds into celestial masterpieces. Each dawn brought a new canvas, where the colours danced and mingled in an ethereal symphony. Iverson's passion transcended mere observation; it was a spiritual connection to the infinite expanse above.
As the seasons changed, so did the tapestry of the sky. From the swirling storms of spring to the crisp clarity of winter, Iverson embraced every
manifestation of nature's majesty. His photographs became windows to the soul
of the prairie, inviting viewers to lose themselves in the boundless beauty of the
firmament. Through his lens, the sky was not just a backdrop but a living, breathing entity, pulsating with energy and emotion.
But Iverson's journey was not without its challenges. Enduring harsh weather conditions and untold hours of waiting, he remained steadfast in his pursuit of the perfect shot. For him, each photograph was a labor of love, a
testament to his unwavering dedication to capturing the fleeting moments of
splendour that graced the sky.
Our Skies from My Eyes is more than just a collection of photographs; it is a testament to the power of passion and the beauty of the natural world.
Through Iverson's lens, readers are transported to a realm where time stands still, and the wonders of the universe are laid bare for all to behold. In his images, we find not only the grandeur of the skies but also the indomitable spirit of one man who dared to chase his dreams across the endless prairie sky.
Megan Snook is a self-taught photgrapher and artist, born in Campbell River, British Columbia, and now based in Saskatchewan.

After surviving two strokes in 2018 that left her with 50% vision loss in each eye, Megan developed a unique way of seeing the world - one that shapes every image she creates.

Her photography reflects resilience, gratitude, and a profound appreciation for beauty in unexpected perspective. It invites the viewer to see the world from a different perspective and to appreciate it's wonderous nature.
Living in the heart of the Kootenays, Paige draws quiet strength and inspiration from the region’s natural beauty and the grounding presence of small-town community. Her work, rooted in mediums such as oil, acrylic, digital, and charcoal, serves as both creative expression and emotional processing—an anchor amid the intensity of training to become
a paramedic and a deep calling to help others.
Art for Paige is a space of stillness and reflection. She chooses to keep the inspiration behind her pieces private, inviting viewers to bring their own interpretations and emotional responses. This openness allows each piece to become a shared experience— shaped as much by the viewer’s perspective as the artist’s hand.
Whether on canvas or screen, her work offers a quiet, unspoken dialogue between nature, emotion, and imagination—grounded in compassion, yet open to discovery.
Alana is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist whose work spans a whimsical array of mediums, including clay, felting, crochet, painting, graphite, alcohol markers, and digital art. Her creations are portals—inviting little worlds where imagination takes the lead and stories begin to unfold in the minds of those who view them.
Rooted in a lifelong love of fantasy and fueled by an early passion for drawing dragons and creatures, Alana’s art aims to evoke curiosity, emotion, and a sense of wonder. Whether through a textured sculpture or a detailed illustration, her goal is always the same: to spark something personal in the viewer—a feeling, a memory, or even the urge to create something of their own.
Constantly exploring new forms of expression, Alana has recently expanded into 3D art, working with felting and clay, and is now learning 3D modelling and printing to bring even bigger ideas to life. Her journey is driven by a commitment to growth, experimentation, and the belief that art should never stand still.
Alana’s work is not just a reflection of her imagination—it’s an open invitation for others to step inside and dream with her.
